Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) is a bounty hunter. To identify his next catch, he tries to purchase Django (Jamie Foxx. Thing go all wrong Tarantino style. The two become friends and Dr Schultz decide on a plan to free Django"s wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) from a notorious plantation owner Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio.
This is Quentin Tarantino all the way. His style has become as unique & original as they come. There is no mistaking it for another. It"s the music, the violence, the visuals, the black humor, and the subject matter. This is all Tarantino. If there is one complain, it"s the double climax. While I understand the need for a happy Hollywood ending, it would have been better to have 1 big gun fight and just finish with it. Not that big of a deal. Certainly it"s still a great film.

Oh my fucking god. ive never heard such a masterpiece. the emotions behind every aspect of this track is inspiring. every piece of instrumentation is amazing. and the subject matter of the song just makes it awesome. this should have had its own release as a single (it might have done. I"ll recommend this movie anyone as I enjoy every bit of it. Hahahahahaha the more heavier black lady out ran the slimmer black lady by a mile??????. 1:49 when you have asian parents and you get A on your exam instead of A. Is it just me or Samuel acts as himself in every movie he plays. This is the most Australian scene ever lol! Malarkey. 2:14 and that is destiny fulfilled. Jamie Foxx is the only guy who can make Samuel L Jackson cries.

Its Amazing and Sad that those guys just stayed in the cage instead of running for their freedom. They were already beaten down, hope was lost. They sat there waiting for the next master to take them.

It must have been immensely personally satisfying for Quentin Tarantino to get blown up by one of his own characters.

 

2:52 That"s a title screen right there. Django and Carraza was doing a poor copy of the Clint Eastwood and Eli Wallach bounty-claim-and-release scam. The picture is clear and crisp, but the plot and the editing is very amateurish. I stopped after a half-hour of wasted viewing. Okay to watch if you do NOT have anything else to do. I like the way you die boy.

As such, the American military forms a unit, led by Lieutenant Aldo Raine and comprised of eight Jews, to kill as many Nazis as possible. Raine requests each of his men to bring him the scalp of at least 100 Nazis apiece. He has his own method of ensuring that those Nazis he does allow or need to let go free are scarred for life. In Paris in 1944, Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi"s chief propaganda master and filmmaker, plans to debut his latest film, "Nation"s Pride". The film, based on the victorious military exploits of Private Fredrick Zoller, stars Zoller as himself. Because of his attraction to its pretty proprietress Emmanuelle Mimieux, Zoller convinces Goebbels and the Nazi brass to hold the premiere at Mimieux"s cinema. Landa is to act as chief of security for the event. When the Americans get wind of the screening and the fact that most of the Nazi highers-up will be in attendance, Raine"s team is tasked with blowing up the cinema during the screening. They are assisted by renowned German actress, Bridget von Hammersmark, who has been working as a spy for the British. They believe luck is on their side when they learn that Hitler himself is scheduled to attend. Beyond being found out, Raine"s team face two as of yet unknown issues. The first is Mimieux, who is really Shoshanna Dreyfus, a Jew who saw her family brutally murdered by Landa four years earlier, and who may have her own plans for Landa and the Nazis. The second is Landa, who beyond his up front mission, has another more personal mission for his life post-war unknown to anyone but himself

That"s my rating of the *comments* on this movie, not the movie itself. It seems like *every single comment* is by someone who either loves Tarantino or hates Tarantino or used to love but now hates Tarantino, and is in any case determined to judge this movie solely on how it compares to other Tarantino movies that they either love or hate. Seriously, go try to find some review that *just* review *this film* without reference to Tarantino or his other films. Nobody seems the tiniest bit interested in just judging this movie by itself, for what it is; everyone seems stubbornly determined to start from what they *expected* it to be. I found this very annoying, because I have no particular opinion of Tarantino, and I"m not at all sure I"ve ever seen any of his other films. So I"m judging this film purely by *this film.
And I liked it. A lot. Not perfect, I definitely have some nits to pick. But on the whole, the story engrossed me, the suspense was totally suspenseful, some of the characters were memorable, and at least some of the humor quite funny. I very much liked the way language was used in the film.
Was it profound or thought-provoking? No. Was it art? No. But it was entertaining and well made, and that"s fine with me.
Of course, I would be remiss if I didn"t pick at the nits. The film vacillated clumsily in tone, between serious, intense drama, and a vastly more frivolous tone. For instance, the use in some cases of hand-written labels for characters drawn onto the screen, or rock-and-roll music at inappropriate times. I really felt the frivolousness didn"t work at all and was distracting.
And then there was the graphic violence. I"m not big on gore, not at all. For the most port, I thought the overt gore was reasonably appropriate to the story and characters. But the final scene was *well* over the line. I couldn"t watch it, I eventually had to turn away. It didn"t need to be that long and explicit, period. I don"t pay good money to come to the theater to have to squirm and wince like that, that"s not an enjoyable experience.
But on the whole I thought it was very good. The proof of the pudding: I was very surprised after the film when I looked at the theater lobby clock and realized how long the movie had been; it definitely did not seem that long while I was watching it, and that"s generally the mark of a good film.
